I went to the weighing yesterday and I've put on half a kilo again. It seems to be very difficult to get back on track, I loose a few hundred grams and I put them on again. Not good.
On Monday I started going to the gym! I've never done that before but now I saw a six week program that I thought could fit me. It's supposed to strengthen us up and included is free access to the gym at all times, plus weighing and measuring. What we need to do in the beginning and end is to walk 3 km on a tread mill and see the difference and I did that yesterday. I thought I'd have to crawl back!
Because I've never exercised before I had to buy trousers and shoes. Got myself cheap enough trousers on Monday and today I got shoes. I was going to try to use my old ones but yesterday I found out that they are no good so I decided to get new ones. Found good shoes on sale down in the pharmacy and got them. Just hope they are as good as they are supposed to be.
Sólveig Lilja and Bob had their first lesson for the autumn today. Kristín Lára went to Ella and I think she enjoyed it and Bob thought the lesson was good.

Fat fighting
As usual, I went to my weekly weighing on Tuesday. After two bad weeks I had a very good week, got rid of two kilos! Not bad.
The new neighbours have been driving us crazy for the last few days. Sawing and banging until late at night. Last night they had stopped and Bob and I were both falling asleep when they started again and it was almost 11 o'clock! And when this happens, it takes us a while before we can go back to sleep again. We are just hoping that it will soon stop since they are moving in on Saturday.
Speaking of Saturday, it's Kristín Lára's birthday on Saturday. I just hope the weather will be nice so that people can stay outside on the deck.

Back down again
I had my weekly weighing yesterday and I have got rid of 31.7 kilos. I have got rid of some weight now for two weeks in a row so I am hoping that I am back on track. I partially "blame" this slow progress on my biking, that I am building muscles - which are heavier than fat - and my clothes feel looser now. So now I just have to get going properly again.
I was painting the girls' new bedroom over the weekend. The wall around the window is dark purple and the rest of the walls bright yellow. Painted the ceiling as well, white. I also bought some shelves and a couple of frames, the shelves I painted pink as the shelves Sólveig Lilja has in her room right now, and the frames I painted one pink and one purple. Then I had them make their hand prints on a yellow background, one purple and one pink. It's quite nice actually. Then we also picked out new curtains, Pooh bear on yellow background. I think it's going to look pretty nice. I think I'm going to paint her bed as well, think it would look pretty if it was pink :)

Up and down - again
I went to the weekly weighing on Tuesday. The two weeks before I had put on weight, 1,6 kilos all together, but now I finally got rid of a little bit, 900 grams. About time!
I've been working away with my math problems, the test is tomorrow morning. This time, how about passing? Would be very nice, actually.
It's Bob's birthday today, happy birthday sweetheart. We got him a bottle of aftershave and a coffee mug to replace the one he broke the other day. I think the girls liked fuzzing over him a little bit and I sure do ;)
A few weeks ago we saw an ad in the local magazine about American students in RES (Reusable Energy School I think it stands for) here for 4 weeks. They were looking for people to take them into their homes while they are here and we applied - and are getting one. We still don't know anything about this student, we will get information next week, I think. I think it's very interesting, this is a new school and sounds interesting and it's always nice to meet new people. We are going to let him or her stay in the bedroom that we are going to decorate for the girls, they will have to wait moving in until he - or she - is gone in July. Sólveig Lilja and I have been talking about colours and things, she wants black but I have already said no to that idea! My ideas are yellow and purple and maybe keep the shelves pink as they are now. But they will get a lot more shelves than Sólveig Lilja has now. We got her a new bed last weekend, we haven't assembled it yet but will do after we've painted the walls. Or after I have, I'm the painter in the family. Although I have promised Sólveig Lilja that she can help, don't know how I'm going to talk myself out of that.

Went to my weekly weighing yesterday and this time Mrs Scale said 500 up :( Not good. I'm going to have to do better than this.

Tests finished
I have finished both tests and now I just have to wait and see if I passed or if I have to resit them. I am not sure about either one of them, could have done better on both. But that's life.
Bob and I have been working on the box on the deck today. I've been waiting to do that for a long time but didn't want to start until school was over. We measured it out during the week thought and I ordered the wood yesterday and we picked it up today and started building the frame this afternoon. And tonight after the girls had gone to sleep, we continued and the frame is finished for the most part now. It looks pretty good - if I say so myself and I am really enjoying creating this. Not only will it give us some storage space but it will also clear up the mess that this hole in the corner has been since the deck was built. Now we won't have to take the tires to the farm for storage anymore and now we will have a nice box in the corner to either sit on or to put things on.
I had "sewing club" last night. We (the girls in work) started doing this last winter and quite often met every other week with our needlework or whatever. We met a few times before Christmas but this is the first time that we've met after Christmas. I had told them I'd invite them when the bathroom was finished. And they loved the bathroom - of course, it is fantastic.
Got rid of 600 grams this week. But I went lunchtime (before I ate) instead of in the afternoon. So what the real loss is I'm not sure of.

Up and down
Mrs. Scale said 400 more yesterday than she did a week ago. I blame my heavy clothes and not eating enough fish. What it means though is that I didn't get rid of any weight this time, even if I'd had lighter clothes on I old Mrs. Scale wouldn't have said a number lower than she did last week. I didn't keep food diary last week and I didn't follow the diet properly. Had a bit of popcorn with the girls and quite a bit of chocolate - healthy chocolate though. So it's fish for tonight and I'm going to get back on track and get rid of these last kilos.

Good riddens
I went to the weekly weighing yesterday and it turned out that I have got rid of 1.1 kilo this week :) That's not bad at all and now I have 9.9 kilos to go if I go with my original plan of getting rid of 41.2 kilos. Finally I seem to be back on track after months of slow or no progress.
The bathroom is coming along pretty well except for the bloody plumber standing us up again :( Not the first time and probably not the last time either. The tilers will finish today and then we have the bath tap to put up (which we can do ourselves) the toilet bowl (which we can do ourselves as well - maybe with some help from Árni), and the towel rack which I don't think we can put up ourselves. But I will certainly try. And then we also have curtains to put up and paint the ceiling, window and door but I'll do that after the exams.

Over thirty again :)
Went to my weighing yesterday and finally made some progress :) Got rid of one kilo so I'm back over 30 kilos. Very, very good. Now I just have to keep it up so that I can get rid of these last 10 kilos or so before the summer.

A new tape
We made a tape for Mum on Monday night. It was only about half an hour long but it was fun. It was from Sólveig Lilja's dance show mostly and I'm sure Mum will like it. I know we had fun watching it, Sólveig Lilja danced along and Kristín Lára seemed to have a lot of fun as well.
I went to the weighing yesterday. Got rid of 300 grams this time which is better than putting some on! So that's a good thing.
The bathroom project is coming along well. The tilers finished grouting the half they had tiled and now our builder and plumber are drilling the hole for the shower drain. The plumber said he could come on Friday or Saturday to fit the shower. And the tiler will be back on Monday to continue with the tiling. Will it be finished by the end of the month I wonder? Looks like it and I sure hope it will.

Not a good week
This was not a good week, weight-wise :( Put on a kilo. I knew it hadn't been a good week but this was a bit too much. Bob is not very happy and doesn't listen to any excuses. Which is good in a way :)
Our tiler is coming over tonight to pick up his money. And give us an estimation on how much it would cost to do the rest of the tiling. The plumber - who I thought was avoiding us or dead even - came over on Sunday night, bouncing of life as every time I've seen him before - and told us how he would do things. So we are doing things his way, after all he is the professional. We are both getting sick of this mess and want it over and done with and we both agree on that we want to have it done properly.
Sólveig Lilja is having her last dance lesson in school this morning and we are all going there to see her. She so loves dancing and it will be fun to see her.
I made some progress with school work last night. Bob kept me company and help me which was very nice.

One hundred grams!
That's all. One hundred grams. But they went, didn't come so that's a plus. Now I have to add 5 grams of oil every day, hopefully that helps.
Sólveig Lilja and I walked to school this morning. She seemed to like it and so did I. The weather was good, the sky was very pretty, the clouds very colourful and the sunlight was just starting to show on the mountain tops. Very pretty.

Status quo
Went to weighing and meeting yesterday. Didn't get rid of anything this week, but didn't put any on either - which is good. The weight consultant blames too little fat so I have to do better in that area - and I also knew that. This morning I poured 15 grams (or maybe they were 17) of olive oil into a little bowl and I will have that with dinner tonight. Just pour it over my veggies or something.

About time!
I have finally reach 30 kilos in my fat fighting. After weeks of not much progress. In the last 6 months I've only managed to get rid of 7 kilos and my goal still seems far away if I continue at this slow rate. But I can also look at it this way: I only have 6 more kilos to go to reach the upper limit of healthy BMI and when I'm there, I'll consider what to do, if to continue or if to stop there. I still don't know were I want to end this.
We have been talking a lot about getting a dog. I would love to, we all would, but there is also a lot of work involved in having a dog. Bob, who would do most of the work, doesn't seem to think it's a problem so we are going to go for it. Contacted someone who has a few puppies, a couple of weeks ago, and he called again yesterday to tell us that we can have one of them. We went to see them yesterday and the girls went crazy of course, they each picked one and just held them and cuddled them! We got to choose from the two males and we picked the bigger and more lively one. He seemed to calm down pretty well with Sólveig Lilja though. We will probably be able to pick him up this weekend. Needless to say, the girls are excited, to say the least! We have thought about calling him Muggles, he's half chihuahua, half Icelandic, an interesting mixture. The mother was lovely, liked her cuddles and seemed calm and relaxed, something I didn't really think chihuahuas are. Icelandic sheepdogs I know and know they would never hurt a child so we are hoping that we have a good little dog there. We'll see.
I so no fancy school right now. Well, I don't fancy much at all right now, have a bloody cold :( Have a bloody cold, we all do - except Sólveig Lilja is ok, and have had for weeks. We are all getting sick of it.

One more step
Had my weekly weighing yesterday and took one more step towards my goal. I got rid of 600 grams this week and have now got rid of 29 kilos all in all. Hopefully I will be able to get over the 30 kilos goal next time but to be able to do that I have to do better than I've done for the last few weeks. But we'll see how it goes. I need new pictures of me soon, I'll ask Bob to do that when we get a chance.
School is busy, handed in an assignment yesterday and have math problems to do before Friday. Busy, busy time. But that's OK.

Not much progress, but still
I went to the weekly weighing yesterday, got rid of 400 grams but that was probably just because of the haircut I got on Monday. It's not much at all, but still 400 grams down and not up. That's the main thing. I sat the meeting, Þórhildur got a lot of questions asked this time and it was useful. Some were things that I didn't know before, some not but it's always good to have things pointed out to you again. Þórhildur told me to try more variations in fruit, not just juice, apples and grapes. And she also told me to skip the lunch bread and have one extra fruit instead so I'll try that. I just have to get going again, I'm getting sick of this. Maybe I should start making ice cream for myself, maybe like I used to, after the girls are in bed or maybe weekends during the day so they can have some as well, maybe I'll do that this Saturday or Sunday. Sounds like a good plan.

Major milestone, brainwashing and more
As a mother I find all new things that my children do major achievements. Or most of them. The first word they say, the first tooth they get, the first time they roll over, the first step.... all these things. And now it's the first pee in the toilet. Kristín Lára has been going to the toilet for a while "for a pee". Of course she hasn't done anything but sit there and then pulls off a sheet of toilet paper and stuffs it down between her legs in pretending to dry herself. At first she was a bit nervous sitting there but that was only for the first two or three times, since then she's loved this pretend "going for a pee". The last couple of days she's sometimes said no to the question of going for a pee and the same thing happened last night. She'd been in bed for a while, singing away some of the time but also crying some of the time. So to make sure she hadn't poohed herself or something like that, I went in to check on her. She of course wanted to be picked up and soft as I am, did so. But she didn't want to go for a pee but her diaper was wet so I decided to change it and put her on the toilet anyways. And I heard it. Not a few drops but a proper pee! And I praised her until she got all shy, not understanding why her mother went on like that about something as natural as having a pee. So what that it happened to land in the toilet, that was just a coincidence. I dried her and put a new diaper on and took her down to tell "pabbi" about his milestone in his daughters life. "So?", said the expression on his face. He was having his evening feed and I think he was afraid that we would disturb him in that. As we did. Kristín Lára quite liked his fish and his bread and his cheese and his biscuits. And she quite liked sitting on the sofa with him, watching the airplanes. So that was the milestone in Kristín Lára's life yesterday. One year, six months, two weeks and two days old she peed in the toilet for the first time.
Went to a fat fighter's meeting yesterday. Normally I go before I have lunch but since I wanted to sit a meeting as well, I went in the afternoon. Mrs Scale was nasty. 800 grams up :( Not fair, I thought I'd been doing well. Valdís (my math tutor and fellow fat fighter) had decided that she too needed to sit a few meetings so we had decided to meet there and try to support each other in the fight. It is so true what she said. This is brainwashing. I've know that all along. I allowed myself to be brainwashed and that's why I did so well. I just did pretty much exactly what I was told. Then during the summer I started to slip, thinking that since it was summer it was OK to allow myself a bit more and seeing that doing that, I didn't put on any weight but stayed pretty much the same, I continued on that path. And of course, I haven't really lost any weight since then. But now I am going to go to meetings again and get brainwashed again. I'm not going to almost follow the diet, I'm going to follow it as I did when I first started. I'm going to have fish 3-5 times a week. I'm going to have 4 eggs a week. I'm not going to have meet more than 3 times a week. I'm going to drink 2 liters of water a day. I'm not going to eat more than 4 fruits a day. I'm going to write down what I eat and drink each day. And now, even if Bob is probably the only one reading this, it is still official and only the fact that he has read this, makes me have to do it. Although I'm not doing this for him, I'm doing it for me, he has been my biggest support in this and he has done just as much, if not more work than I have. Because he is the one cooking for me. He is the one chopping carrots almost every day of the week. He's the one looking after me. Thanks sweetheart. And about the water, according to some thing I stepped on last week, my water% is too low so I need to drink more water. How this "thing" works, I have no idea, neither how reliable it is. It calculated my fat% 35,9 (I think) but last year someone pinched me all over, manually with some little thing (which is supposed to be more accurate) and that said just over 31%. So I don't know.
Sólveig Lilja has an appointment to see our GP today. She's still coughing and now Kristín Lára seems to have got a cold. Maybe it wasn't the jab that she got the other day but the cold Sólveig Lilja had (or still has). And their father as well. And now I have a sore throat :( We'll see.
I've started my first math assignment. Done two of seven problems. Wonderful. Right.

First Fat Figther's 2007
Went to my first weighing this year yesterday. Have put on 100 grams over Christmas and it could have been worse. I went to the introduction meeting a year ago today, January 10th and since then I've got rid of 28.8 kilos. Now I have to make a fresh start, I've had enough of this up and down, up and down all the time and not making any proper progress at all, only a few grams down and then maybe up again. This is how it's been since July when we went to Paris and I've got rid of less than six kilos since then. I have about 12.5 kilos left to get rid of or maybe more, we'll see when I get closer. But still, I've done well, I stuck with it and 28.8 kilos is 28.8 kilos.
Otherwise, things are just fine. Hid the car keys yesterday though so Bob couldn't find them this lunch time when he went to pick up Sólveig Lilja from play school. So he took Kristín Lára in the toboggan and she loved it. He was going to walk there anyways he tells me.....
